About my work

I am an artist, poet, and storyteller working across media to create layered, textural worlds that invite close attention. My paintings explore color, memory, and emotional resonance, often blending abstraction with traces of the natural world. My aim is to create images that feel alive, luminous, and slightly uncanny, inviting viewers into a space of wonder and discovery.

My visual art takes many formats, including:

  • acrylic painting

  • watercolor painting

  • encaustic

  • mixed media collage

  • 3-D assemblage

  • printmaking

Using found materials is one of my greatest delights. I’m always picking things up from the side of the road, much to my partner’s dismay.

As a poet, I also enjoy interweaving poetry and image into single or side-by-side installations.

About me

Originally from Gainesville, Florida, I now live in the Alberta Arts District in Northeast Portland, Oregon. I’ve been an Oregonian for 20+ years, not including a 2-year sojourn in London.

I’m mom to one college-age son who attends Oregon State University, and I live with my partner who is a non-profit fundraiser.

I studied English literature and creative writing in college, and I have an MFA in creative writing, which allowed me to teach writing (K-12, 2 year, and 4 year college level) for nearly 15 years. During that time, I also certified as a Highly Qualified Art Teacher within Oregon.

I also had a 15+ year career in corporate marketing communications for a variety of industries, finishing as a market research analyst for the high-tech world.

In addition to making my own work, I teach workshops in both art and writing (my favorite is combining the two) for individuals, groups, and organizations.
